Typhoon invading GUANGZHOU!!

Today, we went out together with our classmates to the Jinan University's headquarter for a talk on "What privileges does a Malaysian has in China". At first we were told that the talk will emphasize on our studies in China and the procedures related. But it was actually about the economy growth of China compared to other Asian countries, the tax revenue and rates in China compared to a few countries and many more. This topic may be not that related to what we expected, but it worthed a listen because it will be a very important common sense when we are working in the reality world. I've learned that Malaysia has lower income tax, approximately 0-28%, if compared to China, which has 5-45%!! Hong Kong has 0-17% while Singapore is 0-20%. To be honest, I didn't remember most of the speech because the lecturers were not talking clearly as there was a lot of technical problems.

But anyway, that was not my main point of posting this topic. We left the headquarter at around 3.30pm for the computer complex because one of our friends wanted to buy a computer. 3 of us left the school by bus and it started drizzling when we were heading the school gate. I guess today was the graduation day of some students because the school gate was full with students wearing black robes. So, we walked ourselves to the bus stop, got up one and headed for the computer complex.

When we got there, it already started raining cats and dogs. Raindrops as big as peas fall down from the sky and we were almost wet. We went to have lunch before surveying the computers and everything was smooth as we were in the complex, safe from the rain. The complex was full people, most of them were not shopping actually, but to look for shelter from rain. Time passes by so fast that it was suddenly 7pm so we decided to leave.

We were stunned by the view when we went out the complex. The whole place was full of umbrellas that you can hardly see anyone, except for some people who forgot to bring their own umbrellas. We first intended to take a bus or subway train, but it was nearly impossible for us to do because the whole street was crowded and the subway station was still out of sight. Seems like we have no other options but to take a cab.

You can see a lot of cabs on the street, but almost every one was seated. So, we tried to walk to the other side of the building. And our story begins. Tiffiny and I were using the umbrella that Tiffiny brought from Malaysia. It was big enough to shed 3 people and I have to admit that that umbrella is strong enough from wind when we used it in Malaysia. But it was completely different here because this is not Malaysia. The rain was coming from almost every directions and it was impossible to get yourself dry in such situation. It was not only rain, but wind. The wind was blowing so strong that you need both your hands to hold your umbrella. We walked into the alley where the rain was not so heavy but our umbrella was blown inside- out every time when the wind comes. I was the one holding the umbrella but in the end, both of us are holding it. If not, I will be like Mary Poppins holding the umbrella while soaring in the sky. Just then, we remembered that it is spring now and we were told about typhoon coming to GuangZhou soon. So, this is the first symptom for its coming.

We managed to grab a cab and thank God for that. Finally, after so many obstacles and conundrums, we finally reached our hostel, safe and wet. It cost us RMB19 for the ride but it worthed it. Or else, we might be still showering somewhere in the rain.

Our cab was stuck between two buses. This is the traffic in GuangZhou.
The street was flooded.
Guess what, there's a TV in the cab, but only for advertisement.
I was too exhausted to sit straight and both of us were soaking wet, as if it was SongKran Festival again.
